Yokohama Tire Corp. reports that its AVID ENVigor tied for first place in the Tire Rack's recent high performance tire testing event.
The tire ranked first in fuel consumption, "in all the wet test track categories, in the wet lap times and wet average cornering, and tied for first in the wet slalom," say Yokohama officials.
Officially launched this past March in 69 sizes, ranging from 15 inches to 20 inches, the ENVigor is billed by Yokohama as "the most complete performance tire ever created."
The tire was put through the paces at Tire Rack's 10-acre test facility in South Bend, Ind. Tires also were tested on a 6.6-mile loop of expressway, riding on a variety of road surfaces.
The ENVigor replaces Yokohama's AVID H4s/V4s and W4 tires and comes in H, V and W speed ratings. It is manufactured at the company's Salem, Va., plant.
