Michelin To Stop Distribution Through ATD

June 17, 2025

Michelin North America Inc. says American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) will no longer be an authorized dealer of Michelin tire brands.

It’s the second major tiremaker to announce this move this month.

In letters to tire dealers on June 16, Stephen Hoeft, vice president of B2C sales, said as of July 1 ATD will no longer be an authorized distributor and dealer for Michelin brands.

That means, purchases of Michelin-branded products from ATD will not qualify for the company’s Alliance Associate Dealer program, and thus will not earn dealer benefits under that program.

The change apparently covers all Michelin brands in passenger, light truck and commercial segments — Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal — as well as Camso and Tweel products. A separate letter noting those commercial-aligned brands was also distributed to dealers the same day. (Note: Michelin announced the sale of Camso to CEAT in December 2024.)

“We understand that changes to your supply chain require adjustment, and we are committed to supporting you during this transition,” the letters note.

The letter sent to Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal dealers adds, “Michelin will monitor the transition process and will reassess as needed.”

The tiremaker also offered to help dealers who might need help “identifying your nearest authorized distributor.” It did not specifically name NTW (National Tire Wholesale), the distribution company operated by TBC Corp. In 2018 Michelin became a co-owner of TBC.

Additionally, Alliance Associate Dealers are being offered a “special campaign opportunity” beginning July 1 valued at $20 per Michelin tire, $15 for each BFGoodrich tire, and $10 per Uniroyal tire.

The move by Michelin comes two weeks after Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. announced ATD is no longer a distributor of two of its brands — Cooper and Mastercraft.
