Hankook Tire North America is helping an electric vehicle set another world record.
"Following their Guinness World Record title for the longest journey by electric vehicle in 2021, Hankook is teaming up with Rainer Zietlow and the Challenge4 Volkswagen ID.4 team for another cross-country journey designed to test the limits of the EV platform and Hankook’s Ion evo tire line," say Hankook officials.
"As the team completes its first leg of the journey to Deadhorse, Alaska, this marks the first time an electric vehicle has reached the northernmost point of the U.S. Highway system by overland driving," withstanding temperatures as low as minus-10 degrees Faherenheit.
For the second and final portion of the challenge, the team will drive the 7,500 miles back to Key West, Florida, with planned stops at Hankook locations, including the company's manufacturing facility in Clarksville, Tenn.
