Monro Announces Two Initiatives for Anniversary

Aug. 3, 2023

Monro Inc. announced two initiatives across all its brands in honor of its 66th year in business. The first initiative is to celebrate the work of the automotive service technicians and the second uses mobile technology to create an integrated approach to customer service.

Monro has been named Officials Sponsor of the third annual U.S. Auto Tech National Championship (USATNC), hosted by Intersport and the Elite Trades Championship series.

“Technicians are the heartbeat of the auto industry,” says Mike Broderick, president and CEO, of Monro.

“They are true professionals, and we are proud to support both the National Championship as well as our own Monto Top Tech competition to showcase their expertise and dedication to the trade.”

The Monro Top Tech competition will be held parallel with USATNC and only for Monro technicians. The Top Tech competition will mirror the USATNC initial round with a digital quiz then hold an in-person second round where a tech from each of Monro’s geographic zones will compete.

The winner will join the USATNC champion in Tampa, Fla. for a television broadcast.

The second initiative is Monro's new ConfiDrive Performance Review which the company is piloting across 90 stores and is expected to be in 1,300 stores in the fall, according to officials.

The program is a digital approach to customer service that allows the store manager to use a tablet and check-in the customer with VIN scan to identify and assess the vehicle. This is followed by a courtesy inspection.

The manager is then able to advise guests about the vehicle's condition and suggest services. The full ConfiDrive Performance Report is sent to the customer via email or print.

“The ConfiDrive Performance Review program is a game-changer in our industry,” says Broderick.

“The transparent process raises the bar on customer service and loyalty communication, and it’s an important step toward a fully digital automotive service center. ConfiDrive emphasizes our commitment to quality, integrity and safety.”
