Pirelli Tire North America (PTNA) has launched the Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3, a new ultra-high performance tire for SUVs and light trucks.
“The tire combines the sporty performance of the Pirelli Zero product offering with the comfort and durability of the Pirelli Plus line, which is specifically developed to meet the needs of North American drivers – in particular, the demand for all-season tires capable of covering many miles with great handling,” says Pirelli officials.
The Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3, which is manufactured in North America, joins the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3, a UHP all-season tire for premium-level cars; the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3, an all-season tire for CUVs and SUVs; and the Pirelli P7 AS Plus 3, which targets coupes and sedans.
Features of the tire include a larger footprint that “translates into an improved wet performance;” 3D sipe technology – combined with other innovations – for even wear, improved snow traction, enhanced wet braking and a comfortable ride; a stiffer sidewall structure; and more.
The Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3 also is available with Pirelli’s Elect electric vehicle (EV) technology, which is designed “to contribute lower energy dissipation as a result of a 10% reduction in rolling resistance,” according to Pirelli officials. “The Elect version offers also a 15% improvement in wear compared to a non-Elect product.
“EV vehicles are transforming the tire market. That is why Pirelli offers this new tire also with Elect technology, developed with exceptional energy efficiency and optimal grip on various road surfaces. These tires take into account the unique requirements of EVs, championing lower rolling resistance more than conventional tires.

The Scorpion AS Plus 3 is available in 24 sizes, fitting wheels ranging from 19 inches to 22 inches in diameter.
