Number of Techs Grows by Nearly 3%

Dec. 20, 2024

The number of employees across four professional technician sectors has grown by 2.8%, says a new report from TechForce Foundation.

That includes auto service technicians, as well as collision, diesel and aviation technicians.

The recently released “2024 Transportation Technician Supply & Demand Report” notes that for the second year in a row, “the number of post-secondary graduates” has increased.

The 2.8% increase signals “steady progress in filling the jobs pipeline” and outpaces the overall U.S. labor force growth rate of 2%.

“As an organization that — together with our donors and partners — works to correct the imbalance between technician supply and demand, it is encouraging to see continued growth in the number of graduates preparing to step into technician careers,” says Jennifer Maher, CEO of TechForce Foundation.
