James “Jim” Looney, the owner of Looney’s Tire Center in Little Rock, Ark., died on April 22.

Looney, who was 84, opened his tire store in 1974. He served retail, wholesale and commercial customers, and according to the company’s website, the business retreads tires as well.

A U.S. Army veteran, Looney’s obituary notes that “his dedication to his craft and his pride in selling tires contributed to the success of his business, which has remarkably served the community for 50 years.

“Beyond being just a store owner, he was a hard worker who loved to get his hands dirty and inspire loyalty among his employees through kindness and respect. His passion for tires was only surpassed by his love for his family and his devotion to the Lord.”

Looney is survived by his wife of 54 years, Billie, and four brothers and a sister.

A funeral service was held April 30.
