Transamerica Tire Co. Ltd.'s Predator Tires brand has introduced two new products: the New Mutant RT Trail rugged-terrain tire and the Comptrax PR1 A/S all-season ultra-high performance tire.

The New Mutant RT Trail is the newest hybrid off-road tire in Predator's New Mutant line. The company says the tire combines elements of its New Mutant X-RT rugged-terrain tire and New Mutant X-MT mud-terrain tire to provide off-road capability while maintaining on-road comfort.

The tire features a new off-road compound designed to provide traction in mud, snow and loose surfaces while supporting tread life and highway handling. An intermediate void ratio and aggressive tread design are intended to balance off-road traction with highway stability.

Other features include deep, siped tread blocks for wet and winter conditions and reinforced shoulder grooves with dual sidewall designs. The tire's sidewall lugs also provide additional biting edges for traction on rough terrain.

The New Mutant RT Trail is offered in applications ranging from 17-inch to 26-inch rim diameters.

Predator has also introduced the Comptrax PR1 A/S, an all-season UHP tire designed for passenger cars, crossovers, trucks and SUVs.

The Comptrax PR1 A/S uses three main grooves paired with curved lateral channels to evacuate water. Deep sipes in the inner shoulder and center tread blocks are designed to aid wet-weather performance while interlocking during cornering to enhance dry traction and braking.

A solid circumferential rib next to the outer shoulder blocks is designed to improve steering response and straight-line stability.

The Comptrax PR1 A/S is available in 37 sizes ranging from 16-inch to 24-inch applications, with additional sizes planned. The tire carries a 40,000-mile warranty and one year of road hazard protection.
