Kumho Tire Co. will provide 18-inch tires for the UK Bowler team at the 2009 Dakar Rally. The 15-day event will begin Jan. 3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Last year, the rally was to begin in Lisbon, Portugal, but due to terror threats and security issues, the event was cancelled for the first time. This year, it will travel through Chile and end where it started, in Buenos Aires.
Kumho is providing Road Ventures, which are designed to perform well on wet and dry, sandy and muddy road conditions.
The four major
competitive groups in the Dakar Rally are the car class, which ranges from
buggies to SUVs, the truck class, the motorcycle class and the quad class. Kumho will compete in the car class, which consists of seven sub-classes
based on engine and drive type.
