Kumho unveils all-weather Solus in Canada

Feb. 5, 2015

Kumho Tire Canada Inc. has introduced the Solus HA31, a high performance all-weather replacement tire that is mountain/snowflake approved, for the Canadian market.

The company says the Solus HA31 provides excellent driving performance throughout the entire year regardless of the weather forecast. It is designed for excellent handling on dry or wet conditions, and enhanced traction on snowy roads,

Technology advancements include:

* reinforcement of wet performance with sufficient volume of lateral grooves;

* 3D snow sipes for increased traction on snow and ice:

* directional pattern design for improved handling and noise reduction using patented S-SBR technology; and

* new center rib design and tie bar application for enhanced wet grip and braking performance.

Launched initially in 35 sizes in 13- to 17-inch sizes and speed ratings of T, H & V, Kumho will introduce 11 additional sizes by the third quarter of 2015.

The tire is backed by an 80,000 km (approximately 50,000 miles) mileage warranty and fits a wide array of vehicles in Canada.

Kumho says the HA31’s competitors are the Nokian Nordman and the Hankook Optimo 4S.

The Kumho HA31 is available across Canada with a consumer rebate of $48.00 on a set of four tires from March 15, 2015, to May 31, 2015.

“We developed this type of technology to separate the all-weather tire versus the typical all-season tire, and we are seeing a demand from consumers for this type of product that works well in urban markets and high traffic areas. It also reduces the cost and hassle for winter tire changeovers,” says Harry Choi, CEO and president of Kumho Tire North America.
