March 16, 2011

Bridgestone Americas Inc. will donate $250,000 to the Japanese Red Cross to assist with relief efforts following the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

“A tragedy of this magnitude is always devastating to see, but it’s especially heartbreaking when it affects our teammates, and their families and loved ones,” says Gary Garfield, CEO and president.

“On behalf of all Bridgestone Americas teammates, I’d like to express our sympathy to those who have lost loved ones, and we hope that the donation will aid the people of Japan in rebuilding and restoring their country.”

Bridgestone Americas, based in Nashville, Tenn., is the latest tire manufacturer to donate money to relief efforts in Japan. Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, recently donated approximately $610,000 to the cause.
