Smithers veteran Williams dies at 68

David Williams, who worked for Smithers Scientific Services for 38 years, died on Aug. 22, 2011, after a courageous battle with scleroderma. He was 68.

Here is his obituary, as it appeared in the "Akron Beacon Journal."

"As a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Dave loved his family passionately. He enjoyed golf, Cleveland sports, nature, bible study and attending The Chapel. As a longtime Copley (Ohio) resident, he spent his career working in the tire industry, with 38 years at Smithers Scientific Services.

"Dave is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deborah; children, Tracy (Virgil) Whitmyer, Kristin (Nick) Bender, Eric, and Kathryn; granddaughters, Eva, Lucy, and Penelope; sisters, Susie and Pinky; and brothers, James, Teddy, Bob, and Ricky."
