Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling 41,014 tires after determining the tires were made with an incorrect belt rubber compound, which may result in poor adhesion of the rubber to the belt wires, possibly leading to belt separation.

Cooper estimates 5% of the recalled tires have the defect. The affected tires may develop an in-service audible noise, unsatisfactory ride, belt separation or distortion in the tread area that if undetected may lead to tire failure, loss of vehicle control and an increasd risk of a crash. The company says there's been no property damage or death or injury claims associated with any of the tires.
Cooper will contact customers that may have purchased the subject tires and dealers will replace the tires for no charge. Consumers who have replaced their tires before this recall may be eligible to receive reimbursement.
