A Falken first: Ziex ZE914 is OE on Jeep, Patriot

Aug. 27, 2014

Sumitomo Rubber Industries Inc. announced that subsidiary Falken Tire Corp. has been awarded a contract from Chrysler Group LLC to supply Falken's Ziex ZE914 Ecorun for the 2015 Jeep Compass and Patriot Built-Up Export (BUX) models.

The vehicles are to be sold in Mexico, China, Australia and other countries, but not in the United States. The Compass and Patriot are offered in right- and left-hand drive configurations and available with gas and diesel engines.

Sumitomo says this is Falken’s first contract to supply factory standard OE tires. The Ziex ZE914 Ecorun will be supplied in size 215/60R17 to Chrysler's assembly plant in Belvidere, Ill. It was designed to provide excellent rolling resistance while also combining great handling and wear performance, says Falken.

Falken Tire Corp. is based in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and manufactures ultra-high performance, light truck, touring and all-season tires developed and produced for a wide array of popular cars, trucks, off-road and crossover vehicles.
