Bridgestone hockey award given out
The winner of this year's Bridgestone Mark Messier Youth Leadership Award, a youth hockey award, has been named.
This year's winner is Neal Henderson, a youth hockey coach from Washington D.C. The award includes a $5,000 grant from Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC. It will be presented to Henderson today, June 3, before Game Three of the Stanley Cup Final in Philadelphia, Pa.
Henderson founded the Fort DuPont Ice Hockey Club in D.C. in 1978.
The Bridgestone brand also is the title sponsor of the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award, which recognizes a National Hockey League player for his athletic achievements and contributions to society.
