Michelin North America is set to debut the Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice & Snow II winter tire.
The tire, designed for a wide range of passenger cars from subcompact to full-size, provides both durability and reliability for driving in severe winter conditions at an affordable price, the company says.
“The tire is designed to perform in all weather conditions, but excels in cold, icy, wet and snowy weather,” says Andy Koury, winter category manager. “We used the latest technology to help the tire maintain adhesion and flexibility in low temperatures, thus improving its cold weather grip.”
The tire is molded for studs to enhance ice traction and meets the Rubber Manufacturers Association’s severe snow traction performance requirements. Also built-in is a highly siped tread surface, deep tread grooves and a winter-adapted tread compound. The tire also features computer-optimized variable pitch tread elements synchronized to reduce noise for a quiet winter drive.
The tire also features Uniroyal’s DuraShield construction, which is a combination of features for durability, dependability and performance. Other key aspects include a high density casing, dual-compound tread, and high strength sidewalls and beads.
The Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice & Snow II will begin shipping Aug. 1, 2010. It will be available in 29 sizes, ranging from 13- through 17-inch rim diameters.
