Continental develops Smartphone tire psi app

Aug. 30, 2010

Continental AG has developed an application that will report tire pressure levels directly to Smartphones.

Dubbed "Filling Assistant," the application specifies the exact inflation pressure of each tire. "When adding air, the optimum pressure can be achieved," say Continental officials, "even when inflation pumps at filling stations do not measure the pressure accurately.

"In addition, a brief honk and blink signal can be given to confirm when the tire has been inflated to the correct pressure level."

Continental officials say inclusion of Filling Assistant in new European cars "is expected from 2013 onwards."
