Dayco's North American President, Ed Rammel, Dies

Ed Rammel, president of the North American and Australian aftermarkets for Dayco Products LLC, died after a nearly two-year battle with cancer, the company says. Rammel died Sept. 26, 2016, and was 61 years old.

He began his career in 1975 with Dayton Tire and Rubber Co. and spent more than 35 years working in the automotive aftermarket. He joined Dayco in 1985 as an associate in the finance department. In 1989 he transferred to the marketing department and in 1995, Rammel was promoted to vice president of marketing. In 2011, he was named president of the North American and Australian aftermarket.

During his time in the industry, Rammel was active in trade associations, served on several committees, and was on the board of trustees for the University of the Aftermarket Foundation and chairman of the education committee. He was a frequent speaker at industry events and a strong supporter of the adoption of aftermarket data standards.  

Rammel earned his bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University, a master's degree in business administration from the University of Dayton, and a doctor of business administration degree from California Coast University. He was awarded the Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP) designation from Northwood’s University of the Aftermarket in October 2001.

He was born Oct. 10, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio. He is survived by his wife Amy, five children, and 11 grandchildren. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6767 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, Okla., 74133. Flowers may be sent directly to the church.
