Kumho Tire posted total global sales of $7.6 million during the second quarter of 2023.

Kumho officials credit "a positive business environment, such as appointment and stabilization of raw material prices, and representative of new OE partnerships," among other factors, for the company's improved profitability.

"In the second half of the year, Kumho Tire is projected to achieve the highest sales since its establishment through the restructuring of the global distribution network and plans to expand the supply of new tires for new vehicles.

"Profitability is also expected to improve due to the expansion of global production capacity, such as the completion of the expansion of the plant in Vietnam."

Expanded distribution

Earlier this year, Kumho said its U.S. subsidiary, Kumho Tire USA, plans to open a distribution warehouse in Dallas, Texas -  the first of two facilities planned in the next three years.

The tiremaker says the 400,000 square-foot facility will have the capacity to hold 540,000 tires.

“The strategically placed warehouse will allow Kumho to operate at a higher level of efficiency to ensure that customers are provided an elite level of service and access to the Kumho products that they need”, said Shawn Denlein, president of sales and marketing for Kumho Tire USA, at the time.

The new warehouse initially will service 15 states in the Midwest and in the southern half of the country.

Kumho says it is "the first step of the overall expansion."

Kumho says it is finalizing the next step, with plans to open a warehouse in Franklin, La., in April of 2026.

This facility will cover 350,000 square-feet and will have a capacity to hold 470,000 tires.
