Pirelli Plant Hits Production Milestone

Feb. 12, 2024

Pirelli & Cie SpA’s Guanajuato, Mexico, consumer tire plant has produced its 50 millionth tire.

The plant, which opened in 2012, focuses on “the high value segment”- specifically, high performance and ultra-high performance tires for cars, electric vehicles, light trucks and SUVs.

A recent celebration at the plant to mark the production milestone was attended by Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, governor of the State of Guanajuato, and Enrico Verdino, CEO of Pirelli Mexico, among others.

“The occasion also saw the inauguration of Pirelli Mexico's first training center, which will enhance the development of highly specialized local talent,” according to Pirelli officials.

“The center will provide training in matters of safety, quality, productivity, technology and care for the environment. This will be done with the support of the best educational institutions in the country and through the latest technological platforms.”

Total investment at Pirelli’s Mexico plant, to date, totals more than $900 million. The plant’s capacity has grown from 1.5 million tires a year to 8.5 million tires annually.
