Chuck McCourt, a trustee of the Automotive Aftermarket Charitable Foundation (AACF), has retired from the group.
A 54-year tire industry veteran, McCourt, longtime owner of McCourt Industries, also served as chairman of the AACF’s Recipient Review Committee.
His impact on the AACF “has been profound,” according to AACF officials.
“We are deeply grateful to Chuck for his time and support, particularly his tireless dedication to leading the Recipient Review Committee and his many years of sponsorship at our annual charity golf tournament,” says AACF President Jon Owens.
“His legacy of commitment and service will continue to inspire all.”
McCourt told MTD that the AACF is “the best-kept secret in our industry. We help people who desperately need help.
“We usually supply money with 72 hours” after disaster strikes or needs arise. “And we don’t ask for it back. We just want to help. You'd be amazed how many people aren't prepared for emergencies and don’t have good insurance. We’ve helped wives and kids. We’ve kept people in school and college. We’ve helped people keep their homes. We’ve helped people pay medical bills. You mention it, we’ve done it. And we very seldom say no. It truly is a good foundation.”
David Young, vice president and general manager, North America, Valvoline Global Operations, will replace McCourt as chair of the AACF’s Recipient Review Committee. In addition, Marc Blackman, CEO of Gold Eagle Co., will join the group’s executive committee.
“We thank David and Marc for stepping up and we are confident that their leadership will carry on the tradition of excellence Chuck established,” says AACF Executive Director John Kairys.
