IMI Founder Bob Fogal Sr. Dies

Bob Fogal Sr., the founder of International Marketing Inc. (IMI), recently died at the age of 88.

Born in Shade Gap, Pa., to Wallace and Gertrude Briggs Fogal, has was a longtime resident of Chambersburg, Pa., IMI’s home base.

Preceded by his wife, Barbara Ann Rohrer Fogal, who passed in 2013, as well as brothers, Dick and Jim, and sister, Jane Wright, he is survived by two sons, two daughters, two sisters, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

“In 1973, Bob founded (IMI) with STS Tire Seal, setting the foundation for a future of groundbreaking solutions,” according to a statement from IMI.

“Over the years, he introduced the first turnkey system for refinishing truck wheels in 1986, which met OSHA’s safety standards and fulfilled the industry’s need for a full-service wheel refinishing process.

"Bob was also the creator of the original EQUAL, introduced in 1990, the trucking industry’s first internal balancing product.

“Bob’s dedication to his work, employees and community made him a beloved figure. He was known for his integrity, generosity and drive to help others.

"Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was also a passionate family man, a sports enthusiast and a lifelong advocate for charitable causes, volunteering with the Salvation Army and supporting various community organizations.”

A celebration of life for Fogal was held on April 14. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society; 384 Floral Ave.; Chambersburg, PA 17201.
