Former Kelly, Goodyear Exec Fiedler Dies
Former Kelly Springfield Tire Co. and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. executive John Fiedler recently died at the age of 87.
Born to Leon and Elizabeth Fiedler of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he was a graduate of Kent State University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Fiedler had a 29-year career with Goodyear, holding numerous positions in sales, marketing and manufacturing in the United States and the Far East and rising to the role of executive vice president of North America.
During his career, he also served as president of Kelly Springfield Tire Co.
Fiedler later joined Borg Warner Automotive in 1994 and was named chairman and CEO of that company in 1995. After retiring in 2003, he served on the boards of directors of numerous companies.
Preceded by his first wife, Judith, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Geraldine, plus three siblings, three children, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church; 1107 N. Orleans St.; Chicago on Nov. 22.
