New Prinx Plant to Serve North America
Prinx Chengshan has begun construction on its third plant, a facility in Malaysia that will build PLT and TBR tires for the North American market.
The company recently broke ground on the plant in Kedah Rubber City, Malaysia.
Executives from Prinx Chengshan Tire (Shandong), including its chairman, hosted the groundbreaking event, which was attended by Prinx Chengshan Tire North America (PCTNA) President Sam Felberbaum.
Prinx officials say the plant represents a significanicant milestone in the company's "global expansion and reinforces its commitment to serving the U.S. and Canadian markets."
The complex will feature two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities: one dedicated to PLT tires and the other dedicated to TBR tires.
Phase one of the plant will see it have an annual capacity of six million passenger and light truck tires and 600,000 TBR tires. Phase two will allow for expansion "upwards of 15 million PLT and 1.5 million TBR tires," according to Prinx officials.
Production is scheduled to start in October 2026.
