In honor of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Bridgestone Americas Inc. is awarding $200,000 toward adaptive sports programs at U.S. public schools.

Eight grants presented through the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund will benefit 62 public schools and non-profit organizations in eight states to expand existing or establish new programs for students in grades K-12.

The funds will help students of all abilities participate in school sports programs such as basketball, volleyball, track and field and baseball.

"Access to sports is a serious barrier for young people with disabilities across the country,” says Wade Munday, director of corporate philanthropy and social impact for Bridgestone

“Bridgestone has long supported equitable access to sports because of the lifelong skills they provide on and off the field. With these grants, we look forward to empowering more young people with the opportunity to play.”

Bridgestone served as a Worldwide Paralympic Partner from 2018 to 2024 and has continued its efforts to expand adaptive sports access through the company’s “Team Bridgestone” partnership with world-class adaptive athletes.

The initiative is also part of the Bridgestone E8 Commitment, a global corporate campaign that details eight areas of the company’s sustainability efforts.
