Members of the California Tire Dealers Association (CTDA) recently gathered in Los Angeles, Calif., to discuss the state of the industry.

The Dec. 11 meeting took place at Turbo Wholesale Tires LLC's headquarters in Irwindale, Calif.

The event featured a presentation by Phillip Elrahib of Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc., "who gave a report on the state of the industry based on a number of economic and sales indicators," according to CTDA Executive Director Marc Connerly, who also provided an end of year recap of key legislation that will impact tire dealers, as well as an update on regulations and an explanation of the various programs and member benefits that are in the works for CTDA and its members.

The meeting was attended by nearly 30 tire dealers and manufacturer representatives, including individuals representing SRNA, 1-800EveryRim OEM Wheels, A Plus Tire Club, J & J Tires & Wheels, Leininger & Short, Ochoa Tire, Pacoima Tires, Performance Plus Tire, Tire Pros, Turbo Wholesale Tires, Wholesale Tire Distributors, Yokohama Tire Corp. and Zafco USA.

"After learning of CTDA’s efforts on behalf of the California tire industry and the many CTDA programs and activities underway, J & J Tires & Wheels, Ochoa Tire and Pacoima Tires became members of the association, increasing CTDA’s membership ranks by three."

The event also featured a raffle sponsored by Federated Insurance, "with lucky winners walking away with gift cards from Lowe’s and a vertical meat smoker, which was won by Tareq Nasrallah of Pacoima Tires.

"Once again, we extend our thanks to Turbo Wholesale Tires for graciously hosting us in their beautiful administrative space," says Connerly.
