Omnisource, which makes and markets Radar brand tires, has named Dr. Mika Lahtinen associate vice president, raw materials and compounding.

The appointment further strengthens "the company’s technical capabilities and innovation roadmap for its flagship brand, Radar Tires," say Omnisource officials.

"Lahtinen brings more than 20 years of experience in tire material innovation, with deep expertise in the development of advanced rubber compounds and raw material technologies.

In his new role, he will lead Omnisource's raw materials strategy and compound development, "enabling a more scientific and integrated approach to materials development, research and rubber compounding across the Radar Tires portfolio. His expertise will play a key role in further advancing compound technology to enhance tire performance, durability and safety."

Before joining Omnisource, Lahtinen previously led material development at Nokian Tires.

"As we build the Radar brand with premium performance and attributes, it is now time we further strengthen our capabilities on the materials development and rubber compounding side as well," says GS Sareen, Omnisource's president and CEO. "We have established a global multi-national manufacturing footprint and a strong design and R&D capability and with Dr. Lahtinen joining us, we are now accelerating our laboratory and materials science capabilities."
