Sumitomo Plant Sold to Hwa Fong

Hwa Fong Rubber has completed its purchase of Sumitomo Rubber USA's former tire manufacturing plant in Buffalo, N.Y.

The complex is now known as HF Industrial Park, according to a statement from Hwa Fong Rubber.

"HF Industrial Park will become home to a dynamic mix of local, national, and
international company operations, while ensuring a robust reuse of the longstanding,
and important, regional industrial site. Prospective operators within the park are
intended to predominately include automotive-related manufacturing in rubber products,
wheel parts, transmissions, chassis and other components."

Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd., parent company of Sumitomo Rubber USA, which has been dissolved, and Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc., now known as Dunlop Tire North America, shuttered the plant in late-2024.
