Rainer Zietlow, a Guinness World Record holder and global adventurer, visited Giti Tire (USA) Ltd.'s Richburg, S.C., manufacturing plant to promote his worldwide journey on Giti tires.
Zietlow brought his Volkswagen ID. Buzz World Tour to the company's facility where he met with employees and shared stories from his adventure across six continents with his EV vehicle.
"During the visit, he toured portions of the plant and delivered remarks highlighting the importance of reliability, efficiency, safety and trust while driving thousands of miles through varying road and weather conditions around the world," say Giti Tire officials.
Giti works with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles on the direct delivery of tires to the production line of the ID. Buzz in Hanover, Germany.
“On a journey like this, efficiency matters just as much as reliability,” says Zietlow. “The low rolling resistance of the Giti tires has helped maximize the range of the ID. Buzz, allowing me to travel farther on a charge while maintaining dependable handling, stable braking and strong grip across changing road and weather conditions. That combination is extremely important on a global EV journey.”
The Richburg facility, which includes a research and development center, features advanced manufacturing and produces tires designed for U.S. driving conditions. The company says the factory highlights its focus on "innovation, quality and real-world performance."
“Rainer’s journey demonstrates the importance of reliability, efficiency, engineering and preparation on every mile of the road,” says Michael Markoff, executive vice president of Giti Tire USA. “For an all-electric vehicle traveling across continents, low rolling resistance and consistent performance are critical. We’re proud to welcome him to Richburg and showcase the people, technology and advanced manufacturing behind Giti tires.”
