TIA Meets With Transportation Secretary

Tire Industry Association executives recently met with Sean Duffy, U.S. secretary of transportation, to discuss key tire and transportation industry issues.

Tire Industry Association (TIA) executives recently met with Sean Duffy, U.S. secretary of transportation, to discuss key tire and transportation industry issues.

During the July 1 meeting, TIA CEO Dick Gust and Roy Littlefield IV, TIA's vice president of government affairs, presented the TIA Leadership Award to Duffy in recognition of his support of the association's inaugural Roadside Service Safety Week.

"TIA leadership discussed several of the association's top priorities, including expanding consumer tire safety education, strengthening move over laws to better protect roadside workers, advancing the use of rubber-modified asphalt as a sustainable infrastructure solution and preserving consumer choice through Right to Repair legislation," say TIA officials.

"As the voice of the tire industry, it is important that TIA continues to engage directly with policymakers on issues that impact both our members and the motoring public," says Gust. "We appreciate Secretary Duffy taking the time to meet with us to discuss these important initiatives and it was our privilege to recognize his support of TIA's inaugural Roadside Service Safety Week."

"We are grateful for Secretary Duffy's support of Roadside Service Safety Week and his willingness to engage with TIA on issues that affect roadway safety," adds Littlefield.  "Today's discussion reinforced the importance of collaboration between government and industry as we work to improve safety, strengthen consumer education and advance policies that benefit motorists and tire professionals alike."
