The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is opening the Goodyear Motor City Garage, a new retail concept in Detroit that combines tire and automotive service with displays highlighting the company’s products, technology and performance heritage.

The store, located at 3075 East Grand Blvd., will open to the public at 8 a.m. on Aug. 15 during the 2026 Woodward Dream Cruise.

Goodyear also will fly two of its blimps over the Detroit area during Dream Cruise weekend. Company officials say it will be the first double-blimp appearance in Detroit in nearly 20 years.

“Detroit’s car culture makes it the perfect place to showcase our new retail concept alongside our Mobile Garage service that can install tires and service your vehicle right in your driveway,” says Mark Stewart, CEO of Goodyear.

The Goodyear Motor City Garage will offer tire sales and installation, oil changes, alignments, brake service, battery replacement, vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance.

Goodyear officials say the location also is intended to serve as a gathering place where automotive enthusiasts can explore tire technology and connect with Detroit’s automotive history.

The store will display a custom Detroit-themed Goodyear Eagle racing tire that has been laser-carved with a message celebrating the city’s automotive heritage and Goodyear’s connection to Detroit.

During Woodward Dream Cruise weekend, the location also will display a 1973 Ford Mustang convertible used in the opening sequence of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” The vehicle, which is part of the Ford Motor Co. Heritage Collection, is equipped with Goodyear Performance Series F70/14 tires designed to replicate its original equipment specification.

A 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am W72 “Bandit” from the General Motors Heritage Center and Archive also will be displayed. Goodyear says the vehicle was originally equipped with its GR70/15 GM Custom Tread tires.

Additional vehicle displays and activities will be announced closer to the event.

Goodyear also plans to fly remote-controlled mini blimps during Dream Cruise festivities.

The company says the Motor City Garage reflects its efforts to become more consumer-focused, digitally connected and retail-driven. Goodyear plans to introduce approximately 1,500 products during 2026, with an emphasis on higher-performance tires and larger rim sizes.

Goodyear’s mobile tire installation service is available in Detroit and 27 other markets. The service allows customers to have tires installed and vehicles serviced at their homes or other locations.

Goodyear’s connection to Detroit dates back to 1901, when the company supplied tires for Henry Ford’s 999 race car. Goodyear later served as an original equipment supplier for many of the muscle cars and performance vehicles associated with Detroit’s automotive history.

The Woodward Dream Cruise attracts more than 40,000 classic, custom and collector vehicles and approximately 1.5 million spectators each year.
