Tires Dominated Toyo's Second Quarter Sales

Toyo Tire Corp.'s tire business made up the majority of the company's overall sales during the second quarter.

Toyo Tire Corp.'s tire business made up the majority of the company's overall sales during the second quarter.

The unit posted $1.5 billion in revenue, a slight decrease from the same period last year, and operating income of $230.7 million, down 22.6% on a year-over-year basis.

In total, Toyo recorded $1.8 billion in net sales during the second quarter of 2026, an increase of 0.3% versus the second quarter of 2025.

But Toyo's overall unit sales declined during the quarter "due to weak markets," say Toyo officials.

North America highlights

In terms of revenue, North America proved to be Toyo's biggest region during the second quarter, generating $1.27 billion, up 4.9% versus the same period the year before.

In North America, Toyo's plant in White, Ga., recently manufactured its 100 millionth tire.

"We’ve started renovating the White, Ga., plant," Michael Graber, CEO of Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp., told MTD earlier this summer. "The plant opened in 2005 ... so we're using this additional capital to renovate and update the equipment with the intent to increase capacity at that factory and also we want to build as many U.S. premium products there, closer to the market.

"We opened an R&D center a couple of years ago at White. So we’re trying to use that plant to make high-quality, high-value tires for the U.S. market ... and further investment in White is underway."

Discussing products, Graber mentioned that the company "will blaunching this summer the Proxes Sport R, which is our extreme performance tire. Then we have a grand touring product that we’re launching later this year – probably August or September. We’ll have more of a broadline grand touring product. We really haven’t been in thamarket for the last couple of years, so we’re very excited about this. There will be a lot of SKUs. We’ll have a big product launch for that later this year.

"We’re staying with our strategy," said Graber. "We’re confident. We expect (the market) to come back. Like I mentioned earlierour May was extremely strong. I think people have figured out what they want to do, given the current situation, and orders are starting to come back. We’re excited. We’re optimistic about the rest of the year."

Full-year outlook

For the full year of 2026, Toyo expects to generate $5.7 billion in sales, a downward revision from original projections.

However, Toyo's forecast for its annual dividend pay-out remains unchanged.
