Nokian Tyres plc has opened a new tire warehouse in Shorewood, Ill., "that will help the company keep up with growing demand in North America and increased production at its factory in Dayton, Tenn."
The 507,000-square-foot facility doubles the size of Nokian's previous Chicago-area distribution center and can house up to 600,000 tires.
“Our new Shorewood warehouse will increase our storage capacity at an important time in our growth journey,” says Christy McDaniel, head of supply chain for Nokian's North American business.
“The move to a larger facility was a seamless team effort and we’re pleased we were able to complete the process without disrupting deliveries to our customers.”
Nokian Tyres has increased its North American supply in recent years after the opening of its first North American factory in 2019. The company aims to use its Dayton factory "to shorten product delivery lead times and introduce tires that are tailored to the needs of North American drivers and the growth ambitions of tire dealers," according to Nokian officials.
