Balkrishna Industries Ltd.’s (BKT) ag and OTR tire manufacturing plants in India continue to operate at near-full capacity despite the wave of COVID-19 infections that has hit that nation.
“All our plants are running smoothly with average 95% capacity as we have minimized the impact of the second wave of the coronavirus with timely measures,” says BKT Joint Managing Director Rajiv Poddar.
Governments in India have not stalled production “at any location of our plants and we do not foresee the same happening in the near future,” he adds.
In addition, “we do not foresee any disruption” in supply or shipments to BKT’s North American dealers due to the pandemic.
“As a resilient organization, we have extensive experience in planning for and responding to a wide variety of situations. Our teams are closely monitoring developments in the coronavirus outbreak and are taking the appropriate steps to help maintain the ongoing health and safety of our employees and customers.”
BKT’s plants have operated at a consistently high rate following a brief shutdown at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. (Click here to read a May 2020 interview with Arvind Poddar, the company’s chairman and managing director.)
