Mavis Tire Supply Corp. has purchased Sun Tire and Automotive Services, an 11-store chain based out of Jacksonville, Fla.
The acquisition gives Mavis 46 stores in Florida.
Mavis acquired Kauffman Tire Inc.'s 69 retail stores, located in Georgia and Florida, in January, and followed up that deal with the February merger announcement with Express Oil Change LLC.
The deals give Mavis Discount Tire 721 retail stores (the Express Oil Change deal also included 120 franchise locations,) and moves it up to the No. 3 spot on the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list.
Dick Erickson, former owner and CEO of Sun Tire, will not be staying with the company. "Our intention is to retain the staff," added a company spokesman.
Nine of the 11 Sun Tire outlets are located in the Jacksonville area. The other two are located in Tallahassee.
Whether or not the stores will continue to be run under the Sun Tire brand name is being evaluated.
