Goodyear has had a good year through three quarters. BFGoodrich got a good, rich product placement recently.

Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich wrote about both in his latest two blogs. One focused on finances; the other on Nielsen ratings.

In "With one more 'black' quarter, Goodyear will set a 21st century record," Ulrich explored Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s financial history over the last 10-plus years.

In "TV magic fudges the facts, but BFGoodrich gets some free publicity," the Nov. 8, 2011, episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" showcased the BFGoodrich brand. Using computer software, the show's heroes matched a tread pattern at the scene of a crime with the tire brand -- and the vehicle on which it is original equipment.
