Oct. 20, 2011

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has hired Mark Cook as the new director of communications. He replaces Richard Porter, who accepted another job.

Cook formerly worked as the manager of operations research for the Maryland Transportation agency, where his responsibilities included writing and producing the agency's first annual report, managing federal grants and responding to press inquiries.

According to Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield, Cook brings 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors to TIA. He has "extensive experience in transportation, communications, Internet and broadcast media, public policy know-how and strong working relationships with federal elected officials."

Cook says he is "looking forward to increasing TIA's brand awareness."
