TBC gives Jeff Burton's race car to high school

Sept. 26, 2011

TBC Corp. recently donated its Tire Kingdom NASCAR show car, formerly driven by NASCAR driver Jeff Burton, to Northwest Caburrus High School in Concord, N.C.

"We are thankful to have the opportunity to invest in the education of our youth as it lays the foundation for their career in the tire and automotive repair industry," said Bob Crostarosa, senior vice president of marketing for the TBC Retail Group, at the presentation. "The show car is a great tool for these youth to learn hands-on automotive maintenance."

Crostarosa and Tire Kingdom representatives were joined by Tire Kingdom Service Central racers Johnny Gray (Funny Car), Dom Lagana (Top Fuel Dragster) and Shane Gray (Pro Stock) for the presentation to the high school's auto shop and sports marketing students.

"Business partners are the backbone of career and technical educational programs," said Lisa Conger, career and technical education director for Caburrus County Schools. "We appreciate the generosity of Tire Kingdom in providing a car for our automotive classes."

In addition to sponsoring drivers in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series under the Service Central brand, TBC Retail Group also sponsors drivers in IZOD IndyCar Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
