Cooper reviews financial packages for plants

Dec. 2, 2008

Officials from four communities where Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. operate tire plants have put together financial packages "to help us reduce our costs at these facilities," says a Cooper spokesperson.

The plants are in Findlay, Ohio; Albany, Ga.; Tupelo, Miss.; and Texarkana, Ark.

Last month, Cooper announced that it is conducting a capacity study at its U.S. tire plants that will likely result in restructuring, "including capacity consolidation and geographical shifts (of) production," according to company officials.

All of Cooper's U.S. plants are under review and will be analyzed based on a number of factors, including "long-term financial benefits."

The financial packages offered by officials in Findlay, Albany, Tupelo and Texarkana are being reviewed.
