Hennessy has new X-Series tire changer

Aug. 10, 2015

Hennessy Industries Inc. has added the 90X Rim Clamp tire changer to its X-Series line of Coats brand tire changers.

The new tire changer is an upgraded version of the company’s Coats Rim Clamp tire changer. Hennessy Industries says the Coats 90X handles any job easily, with the speed of a swing arm tire changer.

The combination of three features, the articulating Robo-Arm, the right side RoboRoller and the Coats Hybrid Leverless Duckhead, simplifies even the most difficult tire and wheel assemblies. The company says these three features eliminate the need for additional labor or specialty machines to service the most challenging applications.

The 90X can handle the broadest array of applications, according to Kevin Keefe, Hennessy Industries’ vice president of service and sales support.

"This machine was not only designed for daily use, but it was designed to be able to handle any tire assembly that comes into your shop.”

The 90X tire changer drive system is offered with a variable air motor or the new two-speed electric motor. The two-speed electric motor has a rotating speed of 10 and 20 CW / 10 CCW.

The base speed is beneficial for difficult tire assemblies, while the high speed is beneficial for everyday assemblies. The two-speed electric motor provides total control with the option to maximize shop efficiency based on application difficulty.

The new tire changer machine is equipped with the Coats Hybrid Leverless Duckhead, which eliminates traditional tire tools that can mar the surface due to application difficulty, by eliminating the metal-to-metal contact.

This easy-to-use design includes Coats’ exclusive Swing Arm Lock, which keeps the swing arm and leverless tool at the optimal pre-set position, while the Hybrid Leverless Duckhead lifts the bead above the rim when demounting, according to the company.

The Coats Hybrid Leverless Duckhead feature also acts as a traditional helper device by keeping the bead in the drop center while mounting the top bead. The RoboRoller, which comes standard on the 90X tire changer, provides additional power when mounting difficult tire assemblies. Keeping the bead in the drop center, the RoboRoller prevents the bead from rolling back over the mount tool.

“The RoboRoller is a feature on this machine that will be of great use when working on low-profile passenger car tires, high performance passenger car tires or stiff sidewall light duty truck tires,” says Keefe.

The company says the 90X tire changer also includes:

* 6 inch – 28 inch external clamping capacity. This will service the widest array of applications. The three position clamps can handle ATVs through plus-side custom rims.

* Grip Max Plus clamps. These Coats exclusive, built in protective inserts provide rim protection. With no separate plastic covers to be lost or forgotten, the Grip Max Plus Clamps offer 100% constant protection and twice the slip resistance than traditional clamps.

* Single Point Sealer: Also, a Coats exclusive, the Single Point Sealer concentrates the air flow to seal the beads more efficiently. It also eliminates the maintenance of multiple air lines, which will reduce the cost of ownership and potential down time.

* Bead Loosener – hand actuated: The Bead Loosener offers point of use controls to the technician, providing a direct line of site, reducing the risk of wheel damage. The complete power in, power out and stop control design eliminates cylinder travel time, with the show moving only as much as required, increasing productivity.
