eBay Motors Expands Its Tire Installation Network of Dealers

May 30, 2019

Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, National Tire and Battery (NTB) and Tire Kingdom stores have been added to the eBay Motors tire installation network.

They join the program through a new partnership between eBay Inc. and CarAdvise LLC, which runs a vehicle repair and maintenance technology platform. The partnership initially will add some 3,500 tire outlets to eBay’s tire installer network.

Thousands of additional brand name shops within the CarAdvise network are slated to roll out over the coming months.

“Through this partnership, we’re able to connect with millions of eBay automotive shoppers offering increased convenience and selection when it comes to servicing their vehicle,” says Greg Tepas, founder and CEO of CarAdvise. “By expanding our tire installation program with CarAdvise, we’re providing a broad selection of tires from top brands, coupled with competitive pricing and local installation, to satisfy the needs of our eBay Motors customers,” adds Marie Niewiroski, director of parts and accessories for eBay Motors.

Here’s how the program with CarAdvise works, according to eBay Motors.

1. Auto buyers shop top tire brands and conveniently add professional installation services with their purchase.

2. At check-out, customers are prompted to choose a service provider in their local area and complete the transaction.

3. Following payment on eBay, customers easily select a preferred date and time for their installation appointment, and can even add additional services like a wheel alignment or oil change via the CarAdvise digital platform.

eBay first introduced tire installation services in May 2017 in Germany, followed by a rollout in the United States. The initial number of locations across the country was 9,000. As part of its tire installation program, eBay ships customers’ tire purchases directly to nearby automotive repair shops for installation at no additional cost, with "tire inventory that spans across all major brands."

On its website, CarAdvise claims to have access to more than 20,000 shops, including Jiffy Lube, Meineke and AAMCO outlets and Sears Auto Centers.

Bridgestone Retail Operations LLC runs some 2,200 locations, including Firestone Complete Auto Care and Tires Plus outlets. TBC Corp. oversees the NTB and Tire Kingdom chains.

CarAdvise says it is the largest online marketplace for car maintenance and repair. Consumers and commercial fleets receive upfront discounted pricing when booking through CarAdvise using its proprietary technology to approve and pay for services suggested by the shop real-time.
