March 11, 2019

Newsweek magazine asked more than 20,000 consumers to score companies and service providers on how they serve customers. The result: the magazine has named the winners of America's Best Customer Service 2019.

Here's a look at the results for our industry:

Automotive repair
Midas 7.91
AAMCO 7.6
Firestone Complete Auto Care 7.57
Online tire and wheel manufacturers*
Discount Tire Direct 8.06
Tire Rack 7.85
Element Wheels 7.62

*Note - the survey categorized these companies as manufacturers, even though the tire dealers listed are retailers, and Element Wheels is a distributor.

The full list and all ranked categories is available on Newsweek's site.

Newsweek labels the top three in each category as "America's Best Customer Service 2019." The consumers who take the survey have either made a purchase, used a service or gathered information about a product or service in the last three years. Each consumer evaluated several brands, and in all 132,954 evaluations were collected. The brands awarded the top recognition received, on average, close to 100 evaluations from consumers.

The scores were formulated based on the company's net promoter score, as well as five additional criteria: quality of communication, technical competence, range of services, customer focus, and accessibility.

Midas Vice President and General Manager Ron Seagle said, “I congratulate and commend our franchisees and their teams for their commitment to  Midas processes—and earning this well-deserved recognition. Thanks to their dedication, we continued to build trust in the Midas Touch throughout 2018, growing the number of customers that walked through our doors and cars in our bays.

“The Newsweek award confirms what our customers are increasingly saying: Midas is a Touch Better.”
