Goodyear wins 'green' honors from Newsweek

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has been recognized as one of "the greenest companies in America" by Newsweek magazine.

"Companies were scored on factors that included environmental impact, green policies and overall reputation as an environmentally conscientious company," say Goodyear officials.

Specific criteria included greenhouse gas emission levels, water usage and "green programs," according to Don Stanley, Goodyear's vice president of product quality and plant technology. "We pride ourselevs on the progress we have made over the years on these and other fronts."
