Down on the farm with Double Coin

July 8, 2009

Double Coin radial farm tires? A series of Double Coin wide-based tires? They are both part of Double Coin Holdings Ltd.’s aggressive agenda for the United States.

The radial R1 farm tire line will be introduced in 10 sizes in 2010. Although it will be marketed globally, Double Coin General Manager Chun Chen Yue says the company will focus on North America and Europe, “two of the largest agricultural areas.”

In June, China Manufacturers Alliance LLC (CMA), Double Coin’s marketing arm in the U.S., launched a number of medium truck tires, including a fuel-efficient tire line (see “CMA introduces six truck tires – and more,” June 10, 2009).

A wide-base tire line for the U.S. is in development, says CMA Vice President Aaron Murphy. More than 10 sizes, from 45 through 60, are in use in Europe.

In addition to six new truck tires, CMA announced that testing on a size 37.00R57 OTR tire was nearly completed. It will be available in the U.S. later this year.

Probable OTR sizes to follow, according to Double Coin, are 40.00R57 and 33.00R51, plus a 45/65R45 L5 tire.
