Yellowstone Park will use Michelin tires

April 6, 2009

Michelin has been named the official tire of the Yellowstone Park Foundation. Michelin North America Inc. will provide energy-saving tires to the park's vehicle fleet.

The tiremaker also will engage in programs for Yellowstone employees "that demonstrate how to improve fuel efficiency and maximize tire life through proper tire inflation," according to Michelin officials.

Tires require up to 20% of the energy needed to operate a car and up to 30% or more of the energy needed to operate a commercial truck, they add.

In related news, Michael Fanning, Michelin's vice president of corporate affairs, has joined the Yellowstone Park Foundation Board of Directors.
