Brembo SpA, Magneti Marelli SpA and Pirelli & Cie SpA announced a technological collaboration aimed at developing "leading edge solutions for the Italian and international automotive industry."

In a joint press release, the companies said the "Cyber Tyre," the intelligent tire developed by Pirelli, will be integrated with Magneti Marelli electronic control systems and Brembo's evolved braking systems "in order to realize ad hoc technology solutions" to meet performance and safety requirements for all customers.

"The internationally recognized skills and excellence of the three Italian groups will allow for important synergies and for development of applications, in particular in the field of safety systems for automobiles," said the companies.

In addition, the joint venture will address environmental issues, "in line with the evolution of international regulations and new European Union CO2 emissions limits to enter into force in 2012," said the companies.
