Continental sees record growth in Canada

Jan. 22, 2009

Continental Tire Canada says it experienced "extraordinary" growth in 2008, thanks in part to new Continental and General brand product launches.

Continental Tire Canada doubled its volume, "increased its footprint in all channels," and grew its winter tire market share, says Andreas Gerstenberger, executive vice president, sales and marketing, for Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA).

"Based on our strong OE heritage, the Canadian team was able to increase aftermarket presence in Canada with successful partnerships and marketing incentives forged with leading European and Asian car manufacturers.

"Canada is a strategic growth market in the Americas and with a structured approach we have accomplished the promise we made... to make significant gains in this country."

In 2009, Continental Tire Canada intends "to continue its aggressive growth path" by launching CTNA's new Continental Extreme tire lines, in addition to pursuing other initiatives.
