The 2012 Tire Tech Design & Development Summit will be held in Detroit, Mich., Dec. 3-4. The event will focus on "today's and tomorrow's most pressing issues," including TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) advancements, government regulations and consumer demands.
Emerging technologies and tire innovations also are on the agenda.
"With increasing CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) regulations, upcoming label programs, advancements in TPMS and the ever-rising consumer demand for fuel efficiency, there's never been a greater need to re-evaluate tire design, development and manufacturing," say the event organizers.
The Tire Tech Design & Development Summit, formerly the Intelligent Tire Technology Summit, looks at tires holistically. "We selected the most important issues, based on (industry) feedback, and sought out speakers with that specific expertise."
Seminars include the following:
* "The future demands on automobiles: What are the tires required to do tomorrow?"
* "Fuel-efficient tires: an innovation serving a market need."
* "The regulatory perspective on the market."
* "TPMS and power management systems: the next stage of tire techology."
* "Tire rolling resistance under dynamic conditions: how unevent road surfaces waste fuel."
* "Leading in a new direction: redesigning the consumer value proposition of tires."
* "Raising the bar: preparing to meet increasing government standards."
* "Consumer education: TPMS as a monitoring device, not a warning light."
There also will be workshops focusing on topics including consumer and commercial TPMS. Speakers will include Kevin Rohlwing, senior vice president of training for the Tire Industry Association.
