Reifen trade fair exhibitors increase by 10%

May 8, 2012

The 27th international Reifen trade fair will be held at Messe Essen, Germany, on June 5-7, 2012.

More than 645 exhibitors from 44 nations will present a wide variety of products dealing with tires, wheels and vehicle technology. This is a 10% increase over the number of exhibitors at the last Reifen trade fair, organizers note. In fact, it will be the largest since the premier of the trade fair 50 years ago.

Messe Essen and Bundesverband Reifenhandel und Vulkaniseur-Handwerk (BRV -- the Federal Association of the Tyre Trade and the Vulcanisers' Skilled Trade) will be presenting its Innovation Award for pioneering new developments. Twenty-one companies from six nations have submitted a total of 28 applications for candidates.

Additionally, there is a competition for the "Oscar of the Tire Sector." The competitors include, for example, a robot axle measurement system, a mobile in-situ service branch, rubber from recycled old tires and a chassis which can be adjusted with an iPhone App.

An independent expert jury will assess the applications in three categories: "Technology and Products," "Service Concepts and Process Optimization," and "Environmental and Resource Savings."

Another important subject to be covered  at the fair will relate to the certification of tire service businesses to service ultra-high-performance and run-flat tires.

Christian Danner, traffic safety expert, TV presenter and ex-Formula 1 race driver, is the face of the nationwide campaign of the associations of the tire trade and the tire manufacturers (BRV and wdk) for the safe installation of UHP and run-flat tires. He will hold a question-and-answer session on the topic during the fair. Demonstrations are also planned on the first day.
