Andreoli certifies PC tablet for car-side use

Jan. 10, 2012

Andreoli & Associates Inc. has certified the Motion F5v tablet for use as a “car side” data collection and customer service device with the company’s HITS BPOS, point-of-sale (POS) software.

“After an extensive evaluation, the F5v stood out as the “best-of-breed” tablet for car-side use,” says President Mike Andreoli. “The F5v’s sunlight readable display and optional bar code scanner gives our clients an extremely fast and efficient way to capture VINs, review service history, and write up repair orders right in the parking lot.”

Available with an optional docking station that supports an external monitor, the Motion F5v also can be used by a service writer as a regular point-of-sale workstation. The unit is:

* lightweight,

* drop resistant, and

* equipped with Gorilla glass for added durability.

"Hand written input is automatically converted to text, which makes the process of writing up a repair order on the F5v very similar to writing on paper,” adds Andreoli.

The company has posted a video on its website (www.aasys.com/carside) that demonstrates the F5v in use at car-side. The video shows the system converting hand written input to text and the scanning of a door-edge VIN using the (optional) bar code scanner.
